Sunset in San Diego
Carlsbad, CA–There are several segments of the San Diego real estate market that are rocking–and one of the seems to be San Diego’s coastal vacation rental market.
We manage several San Diego vacation rentals, including a couple in La Costa, the Del Mar Beach Club and one Del Mar Beach condo. The summer season started off a little sluggish, but ripped into a full roar by mid-June. Among the agents into our group, we are all wondering why the extraordinary and recent interest.
Some possibilities:
1. People in the California, Nevada and Arizona deserts are sweltering and can think of nothing more appealing than a breezy San Diego ocean or golf condo.
2. Vacationers are avoiding Mexico this year because of crime and kidnappings. San Diego is a more appealing vacation alternative.
3. Vacation rentals in La Costa, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Solana Beach, Del Mar and La Jolla tend to cost less than comparable resort hotels. It may simply be a reflection of the economic times. Vacation rentals also offer kitchens, which allow for casual and self-prepared dining and many offer sofa beds for the kids.
Our situation may be unique, but I think not. We are receiving referrals from other vacation rental owners who are booked–as well as agents seeking short term placement for their clients.
It should also come as no surprise that sweltering folk are seeking relief. Just yesterday, we had an email that summed it up for many : “It’s 110 degrees in Arizona and we need to escape. Please help!”
If you are interested in escaping to one of San Diego’s prime ocean or golf vacation rentals, call Mike Murphy at 760-402-9102 or 877-818-8197. He keeps the calendar, secures reservations and knows the market like the back of his hand.
