This must be the week for celebrity gossip as it relates to San Diego real estate–especially when it comes to a certain La Costa Oaks home.
Trulia reported today that celebrities are suffering real estate losses just like the rest of us–and I couldn’t help but note the recent departure of Richard Dreyfuss from La Costa Oaks in South Carlsbad.
He had purchased this lovely Warmington home on 3507 Camino Cereza June 30, 2006 for $1,250,000. Located in the Stoneridge neighborhood of La Costa Oaks, it was already highly upgraded with pool, spa, palapa, outdoor kitchen–and very likely included the furnishings being offered by the seller at that time. The estimate for those upgrades at the time Dreyfuss purchased this La Costa Oaks home was $300,000.
Two years later on August 1, 2008 Dreyfuss sold the home for $1,025,000. This 3683 square foot beauty had originally been listed at $1,299,000 and was eventually reduced to $1.1 million. Total market time was around 190 days.
Dreyfuss’ loss of at least $125,000 became a gain for the lucky La Costa Oaks buyer who settled into this celebrity home with magnificent views.
