As Carlsbad has developed over the years, the Poinsettia Park community has emerged as a collection of neighborhoods focused on an active lifestyle–thanks to Poinsettia Community Park.
The neighborhoods in Poinsettia Park are logically centered around the 42-acre Poinsettia Community Park with 3 lighted softball/baseball fields, basketball courts, 10 lighted tennis courts, picnic areas with BBQ’s, children’s playground with sand lot and, of course, restrooms. There are also lots of classes here for young and old, including Stroller Strides for moms and dads, tennis lessons sponsored by the Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department, and organized sports for the kids.
The City of Carlsbad also sponsors Spring Break and Summer sports camps for kids at all of their parks, including Poinsettia Community Park–which is the largest park in Carlsbad excluding the Crossings Golf Course (which really isn’t a public park, except that it has picnic tables).
During the summer months, residents from the local neighborhoods gather in the Poinsettia Park for the free TGIF Summer Concert Series that runs from around 6 to 8 p.m. every Friday evening at various Carlsbad parks–with Poinsettia Community Park at 6600 Hidden Valley Road being a favorite with its large grassy fields.
The location of the Poinsettia Park community is almost beyond compare. Nearby are Carlsbad Flower Fields, the Carlsbad Strawberry Fields, the Carlsbad Premium Outlet Stores, Costco, and so many other shopping and restaurant venues. And local beaches are just a couple of miles away. Imagine being able to go for weeks without ever having to enter a freeway!
