Old La Costa homes could be in several neighborhoods, but the oldest (and historic) ones would be those off Estrella de Mar and eastern Arenal Street–many of which go back to the early days of Rancho La Costa–before it became La Costa Resort and Spa and its many iterations.
We have friends whose dad was an early entertainer at the newly-opened Rancho La Costa in the mid and late 1960’s, in the days when the Rat Pack came to Old La Costa to play. Alga Road was a dirt road and visitors from Hollywood and Las Vegas not only enjoyed golf, dining, and evening entertainment, but could go horseback riding, thanks to the stables at La Costa and the relative wilderness surrounding the resort.
We have a collection of old La Costa photos and postcards that we treasure and share when we can. You see, we live and work daily in La Costa and its history is an interesting one–that makes you wonder about the bullet proof glass that protects a couple of homes that back up to the La Costa Golf Course.
These old La Costa homes very often come with a history and heritage with former owners such as Billy Daniels, Robert Young, Sandy Koufax, Ginger Rogers, Merv Adelson, and more.
Not all listed old La Costa homes for sale will be shown below because it’s not an official neighborhood. However, we know where they are and would be glad to show you around and share some La Costa history. To know more, call Roberta or Scott Murphy at either 760-942-9100 or 760-613-6190.
