As reported on La Costa Online this morning, La Costa Resort and Spa is being sold to the Omni Hotels & Resorts group. And if all goes as agreed, the ownership and management of La Costa will take place July 1, 2013. KSL Resorts will continue to manage La Costa operations in the interim.
Paul McCormick, vice president and general manager of La Costa Resort and Spa, assures members excellent service will continue with the change of ownership and that “you can expect to see the same employees you know well here at the Club.”
Details are still sketchy, but this information from original article may help:
The purchase price has not been revealed, but the package purchase includes five KSL Capital Partner, LLC holdings including:
Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, TX
La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, CA
Rancho Las Palmas & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA
The Grove Park In in Asheville, NC
The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA
The Omni Resort Collection owns close to 60 luxury hotel complees which includes a ski facility, three water parks and five spas.
Overall, I think this may be a win not only for La Costa real estate, but for both Carlsbad and San Diego as well. La Costa Resort and Spa will arguably be Omni’s crown jewel–because of its 27-hold golf course, Chopra Center, fabulous spa, world-class pools–and probably the best year-round weather in the world. Omni should be able to promote La Costa far beyond its coastal borders and introduce even more future fans to its offerings.
