First-Time Home Buyers in San Diego Finding affordable homes can be a challenge for many first-time home buyers –especially when they are competing with investors in the San Diego real estate market.

Almost one-third of San Diego’s homes sales are being made to investors and second-home buyers–with the majority of those sales clustered in the sub-$300,000 price range.  San Diego investor activity has mushroomed–just as inventory of homes for sale in the county has shrunk by 55% in the last two years. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t finding homes for our first-time home buyers.

The most affordable communities for budget-constrained first time homebuyers would include Fallbrook, Ocean Beach and Jamul, but less expensive homes (under $350,000) can be found in Oceanside, San Marcos, Vista, Escondido, and other more inland San Diego neighborhoods.
