The approach is up a 500 foot private driveway, and the house was built into the hillside, so that all three stories meet grade. Every room has panoramic views from the lagoon to the distant mountains. Architectural features abound and the home provides many pleasing angles from any perspective. It was designed for privacy. While inside you get the feeling you don’t have neighbors. The home is walking distance to the racetrack and beach and close to I-5. It was built with 2×6 studs for added insulation, has 10’ clear fir open beam ceilings, 2 wood burning fireplaces with poured and polished concrete mantels, a 7 zone radiant floor heating system, on demand recirculating hot water pumps, solar panels, and south facing concrete block, thermal storage walls that store the suns heat during the winter days and warm the house in the evening. The concrete blocks have been sandblasted to sandblasted concrete block walls. Custom 2.25” thick exterior wood doors that are redwood outside, fur inside with stainless hardware. The home has been built to last, and boasts black granite sills on all exterior doors, cedar shingles with redwood trim, copper gutters and downspouts, copper clad skylights, copper roof flashing, and copper craftsman porch lights. The clear, all heart, vertical grain redwood decks use stainless screws with redwood plugs, have 4 x 10 laminated redwood railings, and the sub deck roofs are sealed with silicone roof emulsion for longevity. Bronze spacers support the redwood cross rails, brass risers support the outside hose bibs, and there is even stainless steel rebar where stairs meet the landings. The thermal storage wall on the south side includes windows with a 1 space which allow sun screens to be lowered in summer. Bronze shoes support redwood rails above concrete.
