Carlsbad, California–Carlsbad is famous for its brilliantly-colored flower fields that can be seen for miles around each spring.
Opening March 1, visitors will be welcomed back for the annual opening of the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Following a tradition that has held for over 60 years, Carlsbad is once again transforming its rolling hills into something that will capture the collective breath of the community.
These spectacular and carefully designed displays of natural colors stem from nearly 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus which bloom their hearts out for six to eight weeks (depending on weather)–from March 1 to May 10, 2009. The Carlsbad Flower Fields will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission prices are $11.00 for adults, $10.00 for Senior 60+, and $6.00 for children ages 3-10, while children 2 and under are free. A great deal for area residents or frequent visitors are season passes for the Flower Fields, which run $20 for adults, $18.00 for seniors, and $10.00 for children.
Wagon rides, which take you on a tour through the Flower Fields, are available at $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 3-10.
