It’s been a long, successful run for stainless appliances in kitchens–and we who follow these things have wondered what the favored replacement might look like.
Well, Refrigerator News reports that Whirlpool may have taken a cue from Apple and come up with a line of kitchen appliances in “White Ice” that feature clean lines, stainless handles and mirrored glass. Boredom has set in with kitchen designers who have tired of the granite surface and stainless appliance pairings. Are major home remodels in San Diego far behind?
Meanwhile, Smeg, an Italian manufacturer has a line-up of refrigerators in an absolute retro rainbow of colors, ranging from bright yellow to deep purple.
Without a doubt, change is in the wind and it comes at a time when more homeowners are opting to remodel and redecorate rather than move–at least until the economy pulls itself out of the abyss.
These Apple-ish White Ice appliances are slated to be on display at New York’s Rockefeller Center for House Beautiful’s Kitchen of the Year event. Will we be seeing them in Carlsbad, Encinitas or Rancho Santa Fe homes in the near future?
